Video consultation

Teleconsultation in Singapore

A video consultation with a Singapore-registered doctor for $95 — medication reviews, repeat prescriptions, follow-ups and advice. Useful for a great deal, and honest about the rest: when a problem needs examining, we will tell you and send a doctor instead.

Why a video consult

Not every question needs a doctor at the door.

Plenty of medical problems are conversations rather than examinations. A medication that isn't agreeing with you. A discharge summary nobody has explained. A repeat prescription running out on a Sunday. A set of results you have been staring at since Friday. For these, waiting for a doctor to travel to you adds cost and delay without adding anything clinical.

The same doctors who do our home visits take these calls. They practise in emergency and family medicine, which means they are practised at the specific judgement a teleconsultation demands — knowing what can be settled over video, and knowing precisely when it cannot.

What it covers

Good reasons to book one.

💊

Medication reviews & repeats

A prescription that needs renewing, a side effect you want checked, or a list of medicines nobody has looked at as a whole.

📋

Follow-up after a visit

Reviewing how you have responded after a home visit or a hospital discharge, without another call-out fee.

🔬

Results explained

Blood tests, scan reports or a discharge summary talked through properly, in plain language.

✈️

Travel & general advice

Pre-travel questions, vaccination planning, and general health advice that doesn't need an examination.

🧭

A first look

Not sure whether someone needs to be seen? A doctor can tell you, and arrange the visit if the answer is yes.

📄

The paperwork

Prescriptions, referral letters and medical certificates where the consultation supports them — issued after the assessment, never on request alone.

What a video call cannot do.

A teleconsultation cannot replace a physical examination. Over a video call a doctor cannot listen to your chest, feel your abdomen, take your blood pressure, look properly into an ear or a throat, or run any test. Those are not minor omissions — they are often the difference between a guess and a diagnosis.

If the doctor judges that the problem needs examining, they will say so during the call and help you arrange a home visit, or direct you to a clinic or Emergency Department. We would rather end a consultation early and send someone than treat a patient we cannot properly assess.

Never wait for a teleconsultation if the situation may be an emergency. Chest pain, difficulty breathing, stroke symptoms such as a facial droop or sudden weakness on one side, heavy bleeding, a collapse or an unresponsive person all need 995 or the nearest Emergency Department immediately.

Weighing up the options? Home nursing, home doctor or telemedicine compares what each is suited to, and when to call a home doctor covers the problems that need someone at the bedside.

What it costs

$95, at any hour.

One flat fee for the consultation, day or night, weekday or public holiday — no after-hours loading and no membership. Medication delivery, if you need it, is charged separately and quoted before it is arranged.

If the doctor decides during the call that you need to be seen in person, they will tell you what a home visit costs before anything is arranged. You are never committed to a visit by having had the consultation.

Questions

Teleconsultation, answered.

How much does a teleconsultation cost?

$95, at any hour — there is no after-hours rate. Medication delivery is charged separately and quoted first. If the doctor decides you need to be seen in person, a home visit is charged at its own rate, and the cost is confirmed before the doctor sets off.

What can a teleconsultation be used for?

Medication reviews and repeat prescriptions, follow-up after a home visit or hospital discharge, results and reports you want explained, travel and general health advice, and a first look at a problem when you are not sure whether someone needs to be seen in person.

What can a teleconsultation not do?

It cannot replace a physical examination. The doctor cannot listen to your chest, feel your abdomen, take your blood pressure, examine an ear or throat properly, or run a test. Where a safe answer needs any of those, the doctor will say so and help arrange a home visit rather than guess.

Can the doctor issue an MC or a prescription?

Our doctors are fully registered with the Singapore Medical Council and can issue prescriptions, medical certificates and referral letters where the assessment supports them. These follow the consultation rather than the booking — a doctor cannot certify you unfit for work, or prescribe, without assessing you first.

When should I book a home visit instead?

Whenever the patient needs to be examined or treated physically: a fever that is not settling, breathlessness, abdominal pain, a wound or injury, dehydration needing a drip, an elderly or palliative patient who has deteriorated, or anyone you are worried about and cannot assess yourself. If in doubt, message us and we will tell you which is appropriate.

Is a teleconsultation suitable in an emergency?

No. Chest pain, difficulty breathing, stroke symptoms such as facial droop or sudden one-sided weakness, heavy bleeding, a collapse or an unresponsive person all need 995 or the nearest Emergency Department immediately. Do not wait for a video call.

What do I need for the call?

A phone, tablet or computer with a working camera and microphone, somewhere quiet and reasonably well lit, the patient's NRIC, FIN or passport, and a list of current medications and allergies. If the consultation is for a child or someone in your care, please be on the call with them.
